Coach Proctor believes that swimming is an important skill and sport, so when she realized there was no swimming program available for the kids at the Naval Air Station in Keflavik, Iceland where she was stationed with her husband, she started a Learn to Swim Program. In time, she was able to assist in setting up a base Swim Team for military families, who swam against the local Icelandic swim teams. When the Proctor family’s tour in Iceland ended, she moved back to Maine with her family. While teaching at the YMCA, the University of New England recruited Coach Proctor to run their entire swim program, which she did for six years. She began coaching when her oldest child began swimming at age 6, so she has been coaching and teaching swimming for over 15 years. Coach Proctor loves to watch the kids get better and better in the pool!
